On the issues
The following positions are drawn from Monday's campaign website and his BallotReady questionnaire responses. All statements reflect the candidate's own claims.
Taxes and budget: Monday said he supports balanced budget reforms and opposes omnibus spending bills. He said he would demand transparent appropriations, advocate for line-item accountability and push for serious oversight of federal agencies. He described his approach as "responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars" and said sustainable policy requires "disciplined spending, limited borrowing, and a commitment to long-term financial stability rather than short-term political gain."
Economy and small business: Monday said he would work to reduce federal regulations that harm small businesses, protect property rights, strengthen rural broadband responsibly, support infrastructure improvements without reckless spending and defend farmers from unnecessary federal intrusion.
Government reform: Monday said government exists to secure the rights of the people, not to manage every aspect of their lives. He said he advocates for clearly defined, enumerated powers, local control where appropriate and a restrained federal role that respects individual liberty and state sovereignty.
Constitutional rights: Monday said he would defend Second Amendment rights and protect First Amendment freedoms. On civil rights, he said he adheres to the original intent and structural framework of the U.S. Constitution and that individual rights are fundamental and must be protected. He said no exercise of liberty should infringe upon another person's inherent right to life and that the rule of law, not shifting political winds, should guide governance. He identified his position on abortion as pro-life.
Foreign policy: Monday said he would reevaluate perpetual foreign conflicts that cost innocent lives without proper congressional authorization.
