The Mt. Juliet Chamber of Commerce is calling on local bakers to help stock the tables for its 21st Annual Sweet Tooth Auction on Thursday, Oct. 29.

The free event raises money for two nonprofits: the Mt. Juliet Senior Activity Center and the Mt. Juliet Help Center. Baked-good donations are being accepted now, according to the Chamber's event listing. Anyone interested in donating can contact Judy Roark at 615-400-8684 or [email protected].

Where the money goes

The Mt. Juliet Senior Activity Center, also known as the Mt. Juliet 55+ Activity Center, offers fitness classes, games, trips, music and shared meals for adults 55 and older.

The center is in the middle of a major expansion. It launched a $500,000 capital campaign in February to renovate the former Mt. Juliet Police Station into a nearly 14,000-square-foot facility, according to the center's website. The project would nearly double the center's current usable space. At the campaign's launch, board leadership said more than $300,000 had already been raised.

The Mt. Juliet Help Center, founded in 1983 by pastors from seven churches, provides emergency food, utility and clothing assistance to families in western Wilson County, including Mt. Juliet and Gladeville. The organization expanded its facility in 2023 to keep pace with the area's population growth.
