Breeden's Orchard in Mt. Juliet will host a pumpkin-smashing event on Nov. 1, inviting families to demolish their leftover jack-o'-lanterns.
The orchard at 631 Beckwith Rd. is calling the gathering Pumpkin Destruction, as first reported by Wilson County Source. Gates open at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1. Families can bring their post-Halloween pumpkins or buy one on site, then smash, drop and demolish them through a series of all-ages activities.
Tickets are sold online through the orchard's ticketing page, according to mtjuliet.com. The announcement did not list a price, so families should check the event's Facebook page before heading out. The orchard recommends wearing shoes you don't mind getting splattered.
There is a built-in bonus to the timing. Daylight saving time ends that same morning, so the 8 a.m. start comes with an extra hour of sleep for anyone who remembers to set their clocks back.
Breeden's Orchard has been part of Mt. Juliet since 1974, first opened by Tom and Marynell Breeden and later reimagined by the Dorfman family in 2017, according to the orchard's website. A 2020 fire destroyed the store, and the property has been rebuilding and expanding its seasonal programming since, according to mtjuliet.com. The orchard was a family fun finalist in the 2026 Main Street Awards.
Entry to the orchard grounds is free, with optional tickets for activities, according to the orchard's website.
