Wilson County voters have cast more than 26,100 early ballots for the Nov. 3 election, with three days of early voting still to go.
That figure represents 22.8% of the county's 114,636 registered voters who cast ballots between Oct. 14 and Monday, Oct. 26, according to Main Street Media of Tennessee. The total includes 496 absentee ballots.
The busiest single day so far was Friday, Oct. 23, when 2,932 people voted.
Early voting runs through Thursday, Oct. 29, according to the Wilson County Election Commission. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Turnout more than doubled since first week
The cumulative count has more than doubled since the opening stretch. Main Street Media reported Oct. 20 that just more than 11,200 voters, or 9.7% of registered voters, had cast ballots during the first five days of early voting. That covered Oct. 14-17 and Oct. 19.
In the days since, roughly 14,900 additional ballots pushed the total past the 26,000 mark. The participation rate jumped from 9.7% to 22.8% over that span.
What's on the ballot
Three constitutional amendments are on the Nov. 3 ballot alongside other races, according to the Wilson County Election Commission. Sample ballots are available on the commission's website.
