Wilson County high school students can learn about scholarships worth up to $10,000 a year at a free Tennessee Tech University event in Mt. Juliet. The university's "Tech to You" stop is Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1975 Providence Pkwy.
The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tennessee Tech President Phil Oldham will greet families alongside admissions staff and faculty, according to the Lebanon Democrat, which published a university-provided announcement Oct. 26.
The university said it will award Presidential Scholarships to students in attendance who have already been admitted for fall 2027 and meet eligibility criteria. The guaranteed scholarships are worth up to $10,000 per year. Specific GPA and test-score thresholds for the fall 2027 cycle were not listed in the announcement.
A separate university news release from January 2026 described the prior year's Presidential Scholars program as offering $3,000 to $10,000 per year to freshmen who met minimum GPA and standardized test score requirements. Those scholarships were renewable for up to four years if students maintained 12 credit hours per semester and a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Whether the same terms apply to the fall 2027 cycle is unclear.
Director of Admissions Jacob Cutshall said the event lets families "experience a little of what makes Tennessee Tech special right in their own communities."
Attendees can also apply to Tennessee Tech with no application fee, explore financial aid options and talk one-on-one with admissions counselors, according to the university's event page.
The Mt. Juliet stop is one of several across the state. Williamson County's event was scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 27, in Franklin, and Rutherford County's for Wednesday, Oct. 28, in Murfreesboro.
Students who cannot attend still have time to apply. Tennessee Tech's fall 2027 admissions are open, and the priority scholarship application deadline is Dec. 15. Families can register for the Mt. Juliet event on Tennessee Tech's registration page.
Wilson County seniors weighing college options also face a separate deadline: the TN Promise application closes Nov. 2, as we reported Oct. 26.
